Do you think the mix in our landscape proposals between providing places for people and nature is appropriately balanced?

No

Do you think the mix in our landscape between woodland and grassland is appropriately balanced?

No

Are there other recreational initiatives which we should be aware of when finalising our proposals?

I have no intention of going anywhere near the new treatment plant and cannot understand why you think people will chose to have a leisurely cycle, walk or picnic next to such an odorous place. Leave Honey Hill alone and let us enjoy the peaceful, clean surrounding area that it already is.

We have shown photomontages of views at years 1 and 15 of the new facility from Horningsea Road. Do you think the density and location of the planting proposed is enough to reduce the visual impact of the new facility from that location?

No

We have shown photomontages of views at years 1 and 15 of the new facility from Fen Ditton. Do you think the density and location of the planting proposed is enough to reduce the visual impact of the new facility from that location?

No

Do you have any other comments or suggestions on our proposals for the landscape in the area?

The illustrations show how big and intrusive the new treatment plant will be. This area of green belt is incredibly flat and no amount of landscaping will hide such a vast and ugly site. It will be visible from all directions. It is sad to think that this monstrosity will sit so closely to such beautiful and historical villages. I feel like you are taking us for fools when you believe that we would like such a presence on our doorstep. You appear happy to destroy the surrounding landscape claiming to make it better and a place people would like to visit. I'd like you to those in charge accept something as what is proposed to be built on their doorstep. I am horrified by your own illustrations of the view from Fen Ditton north from High Ditch Road (year 15) shown on page 30 of the Consultation Leaflet and the view north from the A14 (year 1) shown in the Phase 3 Preliminary Environmental Information Report. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves for producing such a tawdry design.

Do you have any other comments or suggestions on our proposed visual impact mitigation measures, including the five other photomontage locations included within our Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR)? This could include any further locations from which you think we should consider.

Why have you ignored the fact that Honey Hill is one of those areas of land that are considered to be most critical in separating settlements such as Horningsea and Fen Ditton within the immediate setting of Cambridge (see the Cambridge Green Belt Study (2012)) which informed the South Cambridgeshire Local Plan (2018)). It seems that you hope to fob of local residents with a few footpaths and cycle ways including ones that will be affected by the odour. Your illustrations show that a 5 m high earthwork bank is totally inadequate as a screen. You must put in a 7 m high bank with proper planting so that many of the structures disappear from view completely and the tallest are better screened. Your overall design of the treatment plant is dreadful. It shows absolutely no artistic merit and gives the impression that you have insufficient funds to deliver a better design. No thought appears to have been put into using creative building design to truly reduce the impact of this horrific site on the surrounding Green Belt land. Structures could be shaped and coloured in a way that blends them into the natural shapes and colours of the landscape and scenery. The buildings could be reduced much further in height and the site could be excavated deeper to lower the level of the skyline. Living green roofs and walls could immediately hide some of the ugly concrete. Creative design can deliver an aesthetically pleasing treatment plant and reduce its impact on the environment. The plant at Peacehaven near Brighton proves this so why can’t you use similar imaginative design principles for Cambridge? You provide no obvious assurance that you will properly maintain the natural screening which you intend to plant outside your permanent ownership, such as along Low Fen Drove. Further, I have no confidence that you will properly maintain the woodland and grassland you intend to plant inside your permanent ownership. Who will water the saplings and trees and who will remove invasive weeds such as ragwort? Do not use rewilding as an excuse to do no maintenance.

Do you think our proposals to enhance access to green spaces provide an inviting place to visit and improve recreational facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians?

Manmade green spaces are pointless green washing. They will never repay the debt of destroying the natural landscape that is there.

Creating a green environment to replace a natural one is pointless and will have no impact on wildlife within the life time of the site. It is just green washing

By the time any of this planting is of any use the site will be at the end of its life. What a huge waste of money at the expense of the natural environment and greenbelt

I just cannot see what is attractive about taking recreation around a sewage farm. I think there is a huge amount of PR speak in the document that will not convince local residents that you are sympathetic to concerns. In addition, anything promised will take such a long time to be realised, that it reduces any walking or recreational activity and enjoyment of nature for years to come.

15 years! A long time to wait for a blot on the landscape to be not quite disguised. This is an area with rich history and biodiversity and 22 hectares of it being decimated for no good reason with buildings which will be visible above the bank is a devastating change.

pedestrians and horse riding in particular are not going to be safe with the number of heavy vehicle movements predicted.

why does a perfectly operational sewage works need to be decommissioned and a new one built on unspoilt countryside creating an artificial landscape in the attempt to soften an industrial site
